Mid-Century Modern(ish)

I’m not usually a super fan of West Elm… it is usually overpriced for a rehabber like me.

When they have a sale, it is so on, though! Their stuff is super cute, and even if it is outta your price range, it is worth getting the catalogs for inspiration.

A few of my favorite pieces from a recent trip:

I love breathing new life into furniture on its last leg! I went to UC Berkeley for undergrad and am currently a graduate student in the Communication department at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. I started getting into collecting vintage things while I was in college at Berkeley. It all started with vintage designer samples, and hunts for "new" things led me to more and more stores that carried vintage crystal and china (loving this stuff is in my DNA-- I'm southern!) Looking for china led me to stores and markets that also carried furniture. As a college student, I couldn't afford ANY vintage pieces that were high quality, so I started buying stuff and fixing it up. How did I learn? Trial and (lots of) error. This isn't my first venture into the blog-o-sphere. After undergrad, I modeled and wrote the blog The Model Who Eats in order to document the foods I loved during my travels and promote a healthy lifestyle.   1. I’m a pretty big fan of West Elm. They have some great buys…but sometimes they have stuff that seems way too expensive for being at West Elm. I do like the pictures of the stuff you took though.

    1. Exactly! That’s why I like to look to their stuff for inspiration.
      A lot of times you can find similar things at thrift shops or goodwill and rehab it to be just as good as, if not better than West Elm’s stuff.
